Obituary

Elizabeth LaVerna Korbitz of La Junta, Colorado died January 25, 2025 at the Bent County Nursing Center in Las Animas, Colorado. She was born March 13, 1930 in Watseka, Illinois to the union of Herman and Miriam Peters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin E. Korbitz. They were married for 49 years. She is survived by three sons, Martin, Mark (Su), and David as well as by numerous grand-children, great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Elizabeth worked much of her life as a teacher and then in support of education at every level from pre-school to college. She spent many hours outside working in the yard and wherever she could find a garden as well as caring for house plants. Beth enjoyed cats and dogs, loved her family and cherished her friends. She especially loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

At her request there will not be a viewing. Her cremated remains will be buried next to her husband, Martin Korbitz, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, Colorado. A graveside memorial service will be held with family. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church in La Junta.
