La Junta Fire & EMS Rescue Dog from Icy City Park Pond
At 0923 today (2/13/25) La Junta Fire and EMS responded to city park pond at the request of LJPD code officer for a report of two dogs that were in the icy water and couldn’t get out.
Upon our arrival one dog was out of the water and the second was still in the water about 12ft off the shore and could not get himself up on the ice.
Fire crews used a pike pole and a long catch pole to break the ice and assist the dog to the edge where we got him out.
The dog was wrapped in a blanket and turned over to the code enforcement officer.
