Lucille Ann Cordova, a beloved figure in the La Junta community and cherished member of her family, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 65 in Pueblo, Colorado. Born on December 7, 1959, in La Junta, Lucille radiated warmth and kindness throughout her life, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

Lucille dedicated an impressive 44 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Her career was marked by her deep commitment to caring for others, a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Lucille’s remarkable work ethic and heartfelt attention to her patients earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and families alike.

A proud graduate of Swink High School, Class of 1977, Lucille never lost her connection to her roots in La Junta. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Parish and the La Junta Senior Center, where she cherished the friendships she formed. Lucille’s vibrant personality shone through her love for sports; she was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies, relishing every game as an opportunity to gather with friends and family in spirited celebration. Lucille also delighted in trips to Cripple Creek, shopping excursions, and attending exercise classes, activities that brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

She leaves behind her devoted partner, Alex Lovato of La Junta, and her loving daughter, Vanessa (Rudy) Martinez of La Junta. In addition, she will be greatly missed by her mother, Viola Cordova of La Junta. Lucille is survived by her siblings: Betty (Lance) Ortega of Colorado Springs, Danny Cordova of Parker, Samuel Cordova of La Junta, and Debbie Cordova of Pueblo West. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of her niece, Miranda (Vince) Herrera of Fort Collins, and her nephews, Trevor Pruitt of Pueblo West, Noah Cordova of Pueblo, and Camryn Cordova of Denver. Lucille delighted in the roles of grandmother to Brianna Martinez, Kaylyn Martinez, Gabriella Martinez, and Madilyn Martinez, who will always remember the love and guidance she bestowed upon them. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Cordova, her sister, Lorraine Cordova, her niece, Ceara Ortega, and her grandparents. Their memories will forever be intertwined with the legacy of love that Lucille leaves behind.

Visitation will be held on February 25, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. A prayer service will follow the next day, February 26, at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Parish at 9:30 AM, leading into a Mass at 10:00 AM. Lucille will be laid to rest after the burial service at Calvary Cemetery.

Lucille Ann Cordova exemplified a life of love, service, and unwavering faith. She touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a legacy that will endure through her family and friends. Her memory will be forever cherished in the lives she influenced and the love she fostered within her community.
