Obituary
Terri Lynn Leffingwell was born to Clyde and Geraldine Dell on October 6, 1958. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School with the class of 1977 and briefly attended Rockmont College in Denver before returning home, where she dedicated herself to both work and family. Terri’s life was defined by love, faith, and resilience. She was a woman of deep kindness, unwavering faith in Jesus, and a heart that never stopped giving. Whether she was singing in church, offering a listening ear, or advocating for those in need, she carried herself with grace and warmth. Her voice, both in song and in encouragement, brought comfort to many. She was a natural caregiver, dedicating much of her career to serving others. In the early 2000s, she worked for CBR Youth Connect, later earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mid-America Christian University. She went on to serve as a case manager for the elderly and disabled, advocating for those in nursing homes across Southeastern Colorado. She had a special gift for connecting with people; whether it was the schoolchildren she assisted in the computer lab, the elderly residents she fiercely defended, or the friends and family she held close.
Terri faced many health battles in her later years, each met with faith and determination. She endured amputations, infections, and organ failure, yet never lost her belief in miracles or her love for those around her. Even in her final weeks, she held onto hope, and more than anything, she wanted to be home with her son and her beloved dogs, Buddy and Charlotte.
She passed peacefully at home on March 8, 2025, surrounded by love, leaving behind a lifetime of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her son Matthew, Brothers Kerry (Ileene) and Roy Dell, Aunt Jannice (Dave) Crosson, Uncles Will, John (Sandie), Bob (Lydia) Dell and Rick Dell, cousins, nephews, her two dogs, and the many lives she touched with her warmth and generosity. Her legacy is not just in the work she did but in the love she gave. To those who knew her, she was a light, one that will never be forgotten.
Services will be held at a later date. Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
