Arrest Following Multi-County Pursuit
On the evening of October 30, 2025, deputies with the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect following a high-speed pursuit that spanned multiple counties and involved several law enforcement agencies.
The pursuit began when Undersheriff Murdock and Deputy Griffin observed a vehicle traveling 92 mph in a 65 mph zone on Highway 40. The
vehicle was seen swerving off and back onto the roadway numerous times. The driver continued at dangerous speeds through Cheyenne Wells and Kit Carson, reaching 96 mph in a 35 mph zone.
With the assistance of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, stop sticks were deployed on Highway 94, safely ending the pursuit. Both occupants were detained, and the driver—who had multiple outstanding warrants—was booked into the Prowers County Jail without bond.
Charges submitted include Vehicular Eluding, Vehicular Assault, Criminal Attempt, Reckless Driving, DUI, Driving Under Suspension, and Speeding 40+ Over the Limit.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the coordinated efforts of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Limon Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, and Kit Carson County Communication Center for helping bring the pursuit to a safe resolution.
All charges are merely accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
