Mary Jane Chavez, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 1, 2025, in La Junta, Colorado.

She was the daughter of Bonifacio and Amalia Ortiz, and was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Raymond Chavez, and her brothers Ben and George Ortiz. She is survived by her sister Shirley Dale.

At just 16 years old, Mary Jane married Raymond Chavez and began a lifelong journey of devotion to her family. Her unwavering spirit led her to return to school later in life, where she proudly earned her GED at the age of 47—a testament to her perseverance and faith in personal growth.

Mary Jane was a devoted mother to two sons: Raymond Chavez Jr. (Roxanne Chavez), and Chris Chavez (Stephanie Hernandez). She found immense joy in her role as grandmother to Ashley Chavez (Brian Otero), Chris Chavez (Ericka Chavez), Janae McIntyre (Matthew McIntyre), Savannah Chavez, Eva Chavez, and Lola Chavez. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren: Isabella, Elliana, and Chris.
