Pueblo Police Department Patrol Cruiser Stolen and Recovered After Pursuit

Pueblo, CO — On Monday, December 22, 2025, at approximately 12:33 a.m., dispatch received a call from security at CommonSpirit Health St. Mary Corwin Hospital on report of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, Pueblo Police officers identified 37-year-old Manuel Ross Trujillo acting erratically, potentially under the influence of a substance. Officers placed Trujillo in handcuffs and transported him to another location because he was disrupting hospital staff and patients.

Once at the drop-off location, officers intended to serve Trujillo a citation. Upon officers removing the handcuffs, Trujillo jumped in the passenger side of a marked Pueblo Police Department patrol cruiser. He immediately locked the doors, jumped in the driver seat and fled at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit was initiated, following the police cruiser driven by Trujillo to Canon City. Spike strips were deployed causing Trujillo to lose control of the vehicle, rolling several times. Pueblo County Sheriff’s Deputies, Canon City Officers, Fremont County Deputies, and a Florence Police Officer assisted in the apprehension of Trujillo.
