The Rocky Ford Fire Department was paged out for a reported fire by a house north of Hwy 50 at CR 21.

When they arrived it was a fire pit that wasn't called into dispatch. They responded with a fire truck and ambulance.

RFFD extinguished the fire due to changing wind speeds and direction. There was no immediate danger to public or owner. Then, they educated the homeowner to notify dispatch when burning. 

RFFD expressed how important it is to contact dispatch before burning due to rapidly changing weather like high wind speeds and direction that can be provided as vital information to a homeowner before burning. 

RFFD cleared scene with no further incident.
