Stephen King Arrested in Fremont County on Child Exploitation Charges

On August 15, 2025, Detectives with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding an ongoing investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department involving charges of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust and Sexual Exploitation of a Child.

During the course of their investigation, CSPD developed information indicating potential related criminal activity within Fremont County and subsequently provided that information to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division. The Colorado Springs Police Department established probable cause for crimes committed within their jurisdiction.

Based on the information provided, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office initiated a secondary investigation. Through that investigation, FCSO Deputies established probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for Stephen King, 64, of Cotopaxi, Colorado. A felony arrest warrant was issued on April 14, 2026, for the following charges:

• Aggravated Incest

• Sexual Assault on a Child – Position of Trust

• Sexual Assault on a Child – Pattern of Abuse

• Sexual Exploitation of a Child

• Sexual Exploitation of a Child – Produces (X56)

• Sexual Exploitation of a Child – Victim Under 12

• Obscenity

Stephen King was taken into custody on April 20, 2026 after turning himself into the Fremont County Sheriff's Office. He is currently being held on a no-bond hold pending advisement of the charges.
