Crash Near Highway 160 Highlights Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle; No Injuries Reported
Today, April 21, 2026, a Deputy with the Huerfano County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway 160 and County Road 450.
A driver did not yield to an emergency vehicle that had emergency lights activated, per CRS 42-4-705, and collided with a Colorado State Patrol vehicle. The CSP Trooper was responding to a crash.
Yielding to an emergency vehicle isn't just the law, for your safety, or those who we are responding to but for officer safety as well.
We have families that want to see us come home. Luckily the driver as well as the CSP Trooper walked away with no injuries!
Please remember to yield to emergency vehicles as well as slow down or move over for vehicles on the shoulder.
