Family Asks for Prayers After Tom Billings Injured in Baca County Fire Response Accident

Description: Tom Billings was seriously injured May 14, 2026, while working the Baca County fires after a blown tire caused his truck to roll. He was flown to UCHealth in Colorado Springs with serious injuries, and his family is asking for prayers and support.

As many have already heard, my grandpa, Tom Billings, was involved in a serious accident tonight 5/14/2026. While working the Baca County fires, he blew a tire and rolled the truck. He has been flown to UCHealth in Colorado Springs and should be landing shortly.

What we know right now: Papa has a broken back, blood in both lungs, several lacerations, and has been intubated and placed on a ventilator. He is fully sedated.

Before sedation, he was in extreme pain. Thankfully, he is still responsive to stimuli and commands, and he can move his hands and feet. We are beyond thankful for everyone who stopped by the hospital tonight, sent messages, called, or checked in on our family.

The amount of love and support already surrounding Papa means more than we can put into words. It’s going to be a very long road from here, so if you’re the praying kind, please throw one up for my Grandpa. We appreciate every single one of you.
