Two Morning Crashes on Northbound I-25 Near Mead Prompt CSP Investigation

Two Morning Commute Crashes on I-25
(MEAD, COLO) - On June 9, 2026, the Colorado State Patrol responded to two separate multi-vehicle crashes on northbound I-25 at milepost 245 and milepost 246 (just north of County Road 34) in Weld County.
7:41 a.m. Incident
The Colorado State Patrol responded to a multiple-vehicle crash that was blocking northbound I-25 at milepost 245.
A Dodge Ram 2500 hauling a trailer carrying a Skidster, a GMC Yukon, an Acura MDX, and a Toyota Tacoma were involved in the crash. The GMC Yukon female passenger was transported to a local area hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 24-year-old male, Luis Meraz Terrazas, was cited with Careless Causing Injury, operating a vehicle with expired license plates, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
7:57 a.m. Incident
A few minutes later, the Colorado State Patrol responded to a multiple-vehicle crash on northbound I-25 at milepost 246. It was reported that three vehicles were involved in this crash, but they were drivable. All vehicles were moved off the roadway approximately 10 minutes after traffic was stopped. There were no reports of injuries.
It was later determined that a fourth vehicle was involved in the crash. The vehicle is described as a gray Ford SUV that may have front-end damage.
