Aspen Acres Fire Property Assessments Underway as Officials Urge Public to Stay Out of Fire Area

The Fire Information Phone Line has been receiving a lot of calls inquiring about specific homes and whether or not they have been impacted by the fire. This information is being collected by the Custer County Sheriff's Office and Pueblo County Sheriff's Office as it is safe to do so.
Yesterday, officers were in the fire area doing property assessments when the wind shifted, pushing fire in their direction, and they were forced to retreat. They are actively working to check on each and every home within the fire area but it will take time to compile this information. They will contact property owners as the information is collected.
The #AspenAcresFire was very active overnight and remains active today. We anticipate more storms this afternoon, which will make the wind and fire behavior unpredictable. For your own safety and that of first responders, please stay out of the fire area. We understand your sense of urgency to get answers and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to both fight this active fire and gather information about the affected properties. The Sheriff's Offices will be in touch with property owners as soon as they have the information.
