Obituary
Talbot “Tobe” Enyart Allumbaugh, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026 at his home in Sugar City surrounded by his wife, son, and sister.
Born on July 11, 1946, in La Junta Tobe lived a remarkable life defined by hard work, determination, and a deep love for his family. He approached every endeavor with focus and purpose, earning the respect of colleagues, friends, and all who knew him. Though his accomplishments were many, Tobe’s greatest source of pride was always his family. While in Asia, Tobe met and married his wife, Gundy (Encinas) Allumbaugh from the Philippines in 1988.
A Vietnam War veteran, Tobe carried throughout his life a strong sense of duty, resilience, and commitment to others. Professionally, he enjoyed a distinguished career as an international banker and later dedicated himself to public service, serving as Mayor of Sugar City and as a Crowley County Commissioner. His leadership, vision, and work ethic left a lasting impact on the communities he served.
He was a devoted husband to Gundy, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support shaped the lives of many.
Tobe is survived by his loving wife, Gundy (Encinas) Allumbaugh of 38 yrs; his son Kelly Jenkins and wife Susie; his son Ashton Allumbaugh and wife Christina; his cherished grandchildren, Theo and Kira; his sister, Marge Wells and nephew Garon Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiliston Allumbaugh and Margaret (Allumbaugh) Herman, and his niece, Shawna Jones.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported, encouraged, and loved Tobe throughout his life. Your kindness and friendship meant more than words can express.
As Tobe wished for everyone to know: “I’m at peace with this, and I know where I am going.”
