Local Goat Becomes the “GOAT” of Rock Creek Canyon Fire, Guiding Crews Safely Off the Mountain

Description: A local goat stole the spotlight at the Rock Creek Canyon Fire after guiding firefighters along safe routes, supervising crews, and boosting morale during operations...

We interrupt the seriousness of the last many days to share a little heart warming story about a goat...

Not just any goat...

This home owner's goat was first on scene at today's Rock Creek Canyon Fire and took it upon herself to lead fire crews in and out of the fire helping them pick the best route. She even made some of those inpatient goat noises when we stopped just to make sure we knew that we needed to follow her and keep up.

So please join us as we give a huge shout out to this cute little path finder who indeed was the GOAT of the Rock Creek Canyon Fire today ensuring all Crews got off the mountain safely
Thank you for hiking with us and the GOAT!

While volunteering on the Rock Creek Fire south of Colorado Springs, one of our Castle Rock Fire Rescue firefighters discovered they had an unexpected volunteer join the hand crew.

Meet the newest (and furriest) member of the team. This friendly local goat spent the assignment faithfully following the crew, supervising operations, checking in on the K9, posing for photos, and generally lending a hoof wherever she could.

Although she never quite completed her wildland task book, we’re told her brush-clearing skills are second to none. While we can’t confirm she met NWCG standards, she certainly excelled in fuel reduction and morale support!

Thanks for the company, little buddy—you definitely “goat” what it takes!
