Key Takeaways from Tonight’s Community Meeting in Colorado City
I wanted to share a few of the biggest takeaways from tonight’s meeting for those who were unable to attend.
Life Safety Comes First
The best news of all is that there has been no loss of life. Every decision being made continues to prioritize the safety of residents, firefighters, law enforcement, and all personnel working this incident.
Weather Remains Critical
The progress we’ve seen has been made possible by incredible work on the ground, but also by favorable weather. Continued success will depend on cooperative conditions in the days and weeks ahead.
Patience Will Be Essential
This remains a very dynamic incident. Even after evacuation orders are lifted and residents are able to return home, work will continue for months to ensure the fire is fully secured and any remaining hazards are addressed.
Trust the Process
One message came through loud and clear tonight: every agency involved, from local responders to state and federal partners, shares the same goal of getting everyone home as soon as it is safe to do so. No one wants to keep people from their homes any longer than necessary, and every decision is being made with your safety and long-term security in mind.
On a personal note, having worked alongside the local, state, and federal command teams since day one, I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand the dedication, professionalism, and genuine care that goes into every decision. I couldn’t be more proud of our Greenhorn Valley community. Hearing the appreciation from firefighters and incident personnel about how welcoming, supportive, and generous our residents have been speaks volumes about who we are. Your kindness, patience, and encouragement truly make a difference to the men and women working tirelessly to protect our community.
