ANCIENT CELTS IN SOUTHEAST COLORADO

The Bent’s Fort Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association invites the public to hear Douglas A. Young speak on the topic of Ancient Celtic Writings in Southeast Colorado.

Mr. Young was able to join local researchers Bill McGlone and Phil Leonard among others to study these markings, interpreting some as Ogham, an ancient Celtic script.

Notably, McGlone translated a message in Crack Cave that reads,

" Beim La a Bel,” “Sun strikes here on Bel,” referring to the vernal equinox. These petroglyphs are among thousands sprinkled across much of Southeast Colorado left by various cultures long before European arrival.

These markings hold secrets that inspire both curiosity and scholarly intrigue, shedding light on the intersection of nature, celestial events, and human expression.
