CSP Responds to Multiple Fatal Crash on Eastbound I-70 Milepost 348

Three fatalities confirmed

(Elbert County, COLO) - Today at 2:31 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 70 at Milepost 348. The crash involved a semi-truck hauling a trailer and a 2021 blue Subaru Forester. The Subaru Forester rear-ended the Semi.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Subaru Forester rear-ended the semi-truck. The Subaru was occupied by five individuals. Tragically, three(corrected by CSP) occupants, including two children, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was transported to a local area hospital.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation.

Eastbound Interstate 70 is closed between Exit 340: I-70 Business West and Exit 348: Cedar Point (13 miles west of Limon) at milepost 348.

The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is the lead investigating agency.
