Lamar High School Briefly Enters Precautionary Hold on Sept. 23, 2025; No Credible Threat Found

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
This morning, at 8:27 a.m., Lamar High School entered into a "Hold," a precautionary safety procedure used when it is necessary to keep hallways clear and secure while allowing classroom learning to continue. The decision followed a student's report of receiving a text message from another school district that raised uncertainty about whether Lamar High School might be a target.
Using our new district safety software, staff immediately implemented the Hold and worked closely with local and regional law enforcement to evaluate the situation. It was quickly determined there was no credible threat to Lamar High School. The Hold was lifted at 8:55 a.m.
At no point were students or staff in danger. The Hold was initiated strictly out of an abundance of caution.
We are grateful to our law enforcement partners for their rapid response and support. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and today's response reflects both our readiness and our commitment to transparent communication with our families and community.

Esta mañana, a las 8:27 a.m., Lamar High School entró en un "Hold" (mantenerse en el aula), un procedimiento de seguridad preventivo que se utiliza cuando es necesario mantener los pasillos despejados y seguros, mientras las clases continúan normalmente. La decisión se tomó después de que un estudiante informara haber recibido un mensaje de texto de otro distrito escolar que generó incertidumbre sobre si Lamar High School podría ser un posible objetivo. Utilizando nuestro nuevo software de seguridad distrital, el personal implementó de inmediato el "Hold" y trabajó en estrecha colaboración con las autoridades policiales locales y regionales para evaluar la situación. Rápidamente se determinó que no existía ninguna amenaza creíble contra Lamar High School. El "Hold" se levantó a las 8:55 a.m. En ningún momento estuvieron en peligro los estudiantes ni el personal. El "Hold" se inició estrictamente por precaución.
